Lane Kiffin Might Have Hard Time ‘Saying No’ To 1 Job

Lane Kiffin is just two years removed from taking the Ole Miss job. Another move isn’t imminent at this time, but Bruce Feldman of The Athletic did share some insight on one program that could target Kiffin.

Miami hasn’t moved on from Manny Diaz just yet. If the Hurricanes move on from Diaz, they could make a run at Kiffin.

Feldman admitted that Oregon’s Mario Cristobal would most likely be the top option for the job, but he can see a scenario where Kiffin gets offered the job. Although the Hurricanes have been struggling, Kiffin may have a tough time turning down that offer.

“If there’s no Mario, I think there are some old Miami people, former Miami players, who do have some influence,” Feldman said on Fox Sports’ The Herd. “They have more voice than at any other program in the country. A lot of those guys are interested in Lane, and Lane, I think, would have a hard time saying no if Miami came after him.”

Colin Cowherd is all in on this potential pairing, saying “Lane Kiffin to Miami feels absolutely right.”

This isn’t the first time that Kiffin has been linked to the Miami job. Last month, Yahoo Sports reporter Dan Wentzel spoke to infamous Miami booster Nevin Shapiro for his thoughts on the program’s future. According to Shapiro, the top candidate to become the next head coach of the Hurricanes is Kiffin.

“I texted my best Miami source, or certainly the most interesting Miami source, in Nevin Shapiro,” Wetzel said. “Nevin is claiming that the top candidate is Lane Kiffin with Randy Shannon as the defensive coordinator.”

We’ve already seen multiple marquee coaches leave for another job this week, so it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise if Kiffin eventually leaves Ole Miss for Miami.
