Lana Del Rey looked heavenly on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The singer made her triumphant return to the Met Gala tonight in a dreamy creation that made her look like a garden nymph. It was a beige gown adorned with dazzling thorny brown twigs that wrapped around her body. A crown also crafted from shimmery twigs topped her head, supporting a massive beige veil—or net—that draped over her head, shoulders, and torso.

For glam, Del Rey stuck to her signature girly goth glam, this time courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Etienne Ortega. Her caramel brown hair was styled in flirty waves.

The theme of the night is “The Garden of Time,” based on the art museum’s new exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and Del Rey embodied it perfectly in her romantic, earthy ensemble.

The last Met Gala Del Rey attended was in 2018, when she twinned with Jared Leto and then-Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele in angelic ensembles that embodied the theme of the evening: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination.”

She hast hit various red carpet since, including at the 2024 Grammys, where she looked like a goth ballerina in a transparent little black dress covered in velvet flowers. The gown featured dramatic puff sleeves and an ample skirt. And Del Rey paired it perfectly with plenty of bows: pointy black heels with bows on the front, and a large silky bow on her hair.

But more recently, Del Rey—who graced the cover of this magazine for our December 2023/January 2024 issue—has been lying low as she wraps up the final touches on her debut country album, Lasso, that is set to debut this September.
