Lana Del Rey put a glamorous Old Hollywood spin on Chanel’s famous tweed.

To accept the National Music Publishers’ Association’s Songwriter Icon Award in New York City on Wednesday, Del Rey arrived at the Lincoln Center in a fabulous black tweed minidress from the French fashion house.

Styled by Molly Dickson, the long-sleeved piece featured quintessential Chanel touches, from glittery lining across the boat necline to a row of ornate double-C buttons down the center. The look got a modern update, too, if its micro mini hemline is any indication.

She paired the dress with a black mock turtleneck top underneath, plus black pearl-adorned pumps and diamond drop earrings.

Beauty-wise, the “Summertime Sadness” singer opted for a sophisticated French twist and a mauve red lip.

While accepting her award, Del Rey opened up about what it took to get her to this moment.

“It took a lot of imagination. I didn’t have to fake it till I made it. I had to really feel it,” she said. “That’s something that’s really hard now, as life has gotten more complicated. I’ve heard that the further you go down a path, the path gets more narrow. And so it’s up to me to try and widen that path.”

For Harper's Bazaar's December 2023/January 2024 cover story, the singer talked about overcoming critics early on in her career. “That may have been just pure ‘Let’s try and make this work!’ energy,” she said at the time. “I’m sure my intuition in my everyday life was still pretty strong. But with the career, I think it was like ‘Let’s just try and see if we can make this work’ instead of having it come to a brutal end.”
