Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson made some headlines this weekend with his most recent tweet. The former MVP said he’s deleting Twitter due to fans and users taking the social media site too seriously.

“I have to delete this app..” Jackson tweeted. “Because I don’t take it serious, but I see a lot of people do and it makes it boring for me to have.”

Lamar’s tweet got a bunch of reaction from his 953,000 followers.

“Nope.. we need you on here..” replied Pat McAfee. “TRUZZZZ.”

“Quite honestly, I don’t know why any NFL player would want social media,” commented a Dolphins fan. “They get maybe 2% fan adulation and 98% ‘you suck’ comments. Better to block that crap out for their own sanity.”

“Been saying this halfway through college but here we are,” said another user.

“Don’t tell us, just leave,” tweeted an Eagles fan.

“You bring the light #8,” tweeted another fan. “Keep being you.”

“I be thinking the same exact thing so don’t feel bad G lol.”

“What’s he going to read on the toilet late in the 4th?” asked a Bengals fan.

“NOOOO DON’T LEAVE GOAT,” tweeted another in all-caps.

Whether or not Lamar Jackson actually goes through with it is another question. But Twitter can be a toxic environment, especially for professional athletes.
