Lakers Rookie Says He Has A 2-Word Nickname
On Tuesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Lakers held their media day where the team’s biggest stars spoke about the upcoming season.
LeBron James was obviously the biggest draw of the afternoon. However the highlight of the media day may have come from one of the rookies on the team.
Rookie guard Austin Reaves took to the podium and revealed a nickname that he picked up already this offseason. According to Lakers inside Dave McMenamin, the Lakers are now calling Reaves, ” Hillbilly Kobe.”
“I’m from Arkansas in the middle of nowhere and I grew up on a farm, so it kind of fits,” he said.

Later in his media session, Reaves reacted to life as a Laker thus far.
“It’s crazy walking into this gym,” he said. “I grew up my whole life watching these guys play.” He says he just wants to “come to work every single day and be prepared.”
The Lakers enter the 2021-22 NBA season as one of the favorites to win the NBA title. With LeBron James, Anthony Davis and a deep bench, Los Angeles will be dangerous once again.
