The Los Angeles Lakers are on the verge of making significant noise in the trade market ahead of Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers are having discussions with the San Antonio Spurs about DeMar DeRozan. Believe it or not, the Spurs have interest in Kyle Kuzma, who Los Angeles has been wanting to trade for some time now.

San Antonio isn’t alone, though. The Sacramento Kings are also have discussions with the Lakers regarding a trade involving Kuzma and sharp-shooter Buddy Hield.

“The Lakers’ talks with Sacramento on a potential deal headlined by Buddy Hield and Kyle Kuzma are the most serious so far, league sources say, but San Antonio is also believed to have interest in Kuzma in possible sign-and-trade scenarios involving free agent-to-be DeMar DeRozan,” Stein said on Twitter.

There’s on potential hiccup here, though. As pointed out by Stein, a Kings-Lakers trade is predicated on Montrezl Harrell‘s pending decision.

Harrell has a $9.7 million player option on the table. If he takes it, Los Angeles could send Kuzma and Harrell to Sacramento for Hield in return.

It could prove to be a pivotal night within the NBA, depending on what the Lakers do tonight.

Hield is the better fit for what the Lakers need, but DeRozan is the better overall player. Either would be an upgrade for Los Angeles.

Stay tuned. It could turn out to be a wild night within the NBA, especially if the Lakers get busy in the trade market.
