Late Tuesday night, Los Angeles Lakers fans received some troubling news about one of the team’s best young players.

According to a police report, police arrested Lakers guard Alex Caruso for marijuana possession. NBA reporter Ben Rohrback tweeted a photo of Caruso’s mugshot along with details of the arrest.

According to the police report, Texas A&M University police booked Caruso on two charges. Police charged the Lakers guard with marijuana possession of less than two ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Here’s is the police report, via Rohrbach.

It’s obviously not a great moment for the Lakers following their early exit from the playoffs.

Caruso was a solid role player for the Lakers during the 2020-21 season. He set a career high in rebounds per game, while posting his second-best marks in both points and assists per game.

It’s unfortunate timing for Caruso, who is entering the offseason as a free agent. It’s unclear if the Lakers plan to bring him back for another season.

We’ll have the latest on this developing situation as it becomes available.
