Lake Williams will reopen to boaters over Memorial Day weekend: York Water Company

Lake Williams will reopen to the public over Memorial Day weekend, according to the York Water Company.

The reservoir will reopen at 6 a.m. Saturday, May 25 for boating recreation, a news release states.

Hiking trails in the immediate area of the dam remain closed because of active construction, but the other trails throughout the 1,600-acre William Kain Park are open, the release states. Trails 2 and 4 are expected to be fully accessible by the end of June.

The lake has been closed for more than two years as the water company reconstructed the dam.

“York Water is excited to kick off the Summer of 2024 by opening Lake Williams to the public this Memorial Day Weekend. We have been working towards this holiday weekend and look forward to seeing boaters exploring the lake once more," President JT Hand said in the release.

The water company thanked its partners — Gannett Fleming and Kinsley Construction — for their commitment and dedication to helping reach the milestone, the release states.

The water company said it also appreciates the community for its patience during the project.
