Lake Huron Medical Center receives rebate from SEMCO for boiler control upgrades

PORT HURON — Lake Huron Medical Center has received a rebate from SEMCO Energy Gas Company as recognition of the center's commitment to reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainability.

The $17,407 rebate was rewarded to Lake Huron Medical Center for upgrading its boiler controls as part of its efforts to improve energy efficiency and reducing its carbon footprint. The new boiler controls have technology that decreases energy consumption and enhances the overall performance and reliability of the medical center's heating system.

SEMCO's Commercial and Industrial EWR Program offers rebates and technical assistance to commercial customers to help them upgrade to higher efficiency equipment. Rebates are available for both prescriptive and custom projects to make businesses safer, more efficient, more comfortable and more productive.

"We are thrilled to receive this rebate from SEMCO Energy Gas Company's Energy Waste Reduction Program," Ken Dawes, facilities director at Lake Huron Medical Center, said in a press release.

Dawes said by investing in the boiler system upgrade, the center is not only reducing its environmental impact, but also ensuring the comfort and safety of patients and staff.

The center has implemented various initiatives to reduce waste, conserve water and promote recycling. These efforts align with the organization's mission to provide high-quality healthcare while minimizing its environmental impact.
