Lago Vista High School students released after 'incident of student self harm,' police say

Lago Vista High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a "single incident of student self harm," according to the Lago Vista Police Department.

All students were released as of 3:25 p.m., and the scene remained secure, the Police Department said. The Lago Vista school district was expected to give an update later Wednesday.

The high school was initially placed on lockdown shortly after noon. Police said there was "no active threat" to the public and that first responders were on the scene.

The status of the student who attempted "self-harm" and details about what happened are unclear. The Lago Vista school district did not immediately respond when reached for comment.

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it's made available.
