Lady Gaga Skipped the 2023 Golden Globes Amid Laying Super Low for Weeks

Attention everyone wondering if Lady Gaga would show up at the 2023 Golden Globes tonight...she did not.

Gaga didn’t explain why she skipped the Globes, but she’s been staying pretty under-the-radar lately—and hasn’t posted anything on Instagram since promoting her song “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick.

That said, she’s been slightly more active on TikTok, where she shared a glimpse of her Christmas tree in mid-December:

FYI, Gaga was nominated for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture, alongside some major names including Taylor Swift’s “Carolina” from Where the Crawdads Sing; Roeben Katz and Guillermo del Toro’s “Ciao Papa” from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio; Tems, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and Ryan Coogler’s “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj’s “Naatu Naatu” from RRR.

Tom Cruise described “Hold My Hand” as being hugely important to Top Gun, saying, “Gaga came in with this song....It became our score. It became the heartbeat of the film, what she did.” He also recalled calling her saying, “I don’t think you understand. Emotionally, I was so concerned until I heard that piece. And I knew that that piece, what it does, how it married our story emotionally....So that was a moment. That was a real moment for all of us.”

Gaga didn’t end up winning in her Golden Globe category, but she is thriving regardless. In case you missed it, her 2011 Born This Way track “Bloody Mary” hit the Billboard Hot 100 recently thanks to the viral Wednesday dance, which, yes, Gaga got in on. A brief break to watch!
