Kyrie Irving is retracing his steps. The Brooklyn Nets star sent an apology to Nike on Tuesday just days after he blasted the shoe manufacturer for its latest ‘Kyrie’ design.

Irving saw the latest leaked photo of the newest ‘Kyrie’ over the weekend. He proceeded to call the design “trash” and blasted Nike for releasing them.

Well it certainly didn’t take long for Nike to get in touch with the NBA superstar. Irving apologized for what he said about the shoe manufacture in a new statement.

“When you’re building something great, there sometimes comes a point when you need to recalibrate and refocus to ensure everyone involved is aligned,” Irving said in a statement. “This is where the KAI11 brand and Nike are. It was unfair to put the blame on Nike or any one person. With that being said, we are diligently working, restructuring, and reimagining things together to make sure we get it right.”

It wasn’t very smart for Kyrie Irving to blast Nike in the first place. The two have shared a partnership for years now. There’s no doubt Irving has made some serious money, as a result.

Nike probably encouraged Irving to privately disclose any complaints in the coming future. Taking his complaints public wasn’t the right move on his part.

It looks like Irving and Nike are willing to put this behind them.
