Kyler Murray shrunk in the playoff spotlight Monday night, resulting in the Cardinals‘ early postseason exit.

Murray and the Cardinals had the look of a legitimate Super Bowl contender at season’s start. But as the regular season wore on, teams started catching up to what Arizona was doing.

It all culminated to an ugly scene on Monday night as the Rams completely dominated Murray and the Cardinals in every facet. Murray didn’t even look like himself, and some were calling for Kliff Kingsbury to put in the Cardinals’ backup.

Murray reflected on his performance after the game.

“It’s disappointing that we didn’t make it a game and come out and play the football we know we’re capable of playing, that’s really the most disappointing part,” Murray told reporters following the loss, via NFL.com. “Losing is one thing, but when you don’t even make it competitive, it’s another thing.

“I put a lot on my shoulders, put a lot on myself and to dream of this moment and then be in the playoffs, the first game of the playoffs and then to play the way I did, to play the way we did, it’s, like I said, disappointing.”

Kyler Murray and the Cardinals need to take a long look in the mirror. This was supposed to be Arizona’s year.

Murray, in particular, still has a path to Major League Baseball if he wants it.

It’s plausible the young star will reconsider his athletic future following Monday night’s fiasco.
