Watch the first trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4
Kung Fu Panda 4's first trailer has arrived as an early Christmas present, alongside plot details and some new cast additions.
The long-awaited fourth movie is due to hit cinemas next year, and star Jack Black took to Instagram yesterday (December 12) to confirm the addition of Oscar winner Viola Davis as new baddie, the Chameleon.
In the clip, the actor FaceTimes Davis and tells her that she will be playing the role, the actress saying she is "super excited" to join the franchise as the "shapeshifter" character. Davis then transforms into Awkwafina, who also joins the movie in the role of corsac fox Zhen.

Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan is also set to appear in the movie as Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves.
As for plot, Kung Fu Panda 4 will see Po (Black) tapped to become Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, and must find and train a new Dragon Warrior.
However, powerful sorceress Chameleon – who has the power to bring back vanquished villains – will get in his way.

As well as Black, the new movie will also see the returns of Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Bryan Cranston as Li Shan, James Hong as Mr Ping, and Dustin Hoffman as Master Shifu.
Also back are Angelina Jolie as Master Tigress, Jackie Chan as Master Monkey, Seth Rogen as Master Mantis, David Cross as Master Crane, and Lucy Liu as Master Viper.
The fourth movie comes eight years after Kung Fu Panda 3. The franchise has also spawned a few TV spin-offs, most recently Netflix's The Dragon Knight, which ended this September after three seasons.
Kung Fu Panda 4 is due for release in cinemas on March 8, 2024.
