Obi-Wan Kenobi and Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani will appear alongside Sam Rockwell in a dark comedy directed by Runaway Jury's Gary Fleder.

According to Deadline, this feature is titled A Guy Walks Into a Bar and comes from Venom screenwriter Scott Rosenberg, with filming set to start before the end of the year in New Jersey.

The project has obtained an interim agreement from SAG-AFTRA which means that work can get underway while the acting union is on strike.

Fresh talks are currently ongoing between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP, which represents a number of major studios and production companies.

A Guy Walks Into a Bar finds Nanjiani's "mild-mannered new father" befriending a "charismatic yet mysterious" figure played by (Rockwell) while out for a drink.

He soon comes to suspect that this man is concealing a secret.

Coincidentally, Oscar winner Rockwell shared his tips for playing the perfect drunk character with Digital Spy just last year, while promoting his comedy-drama See How They Run.

"I played drunks before and it's fun to play. You have to stay very relaxed," he said while talking about his See How They Run character Inspector Stoppard, a cynical, hard-drinking police detective.

"And so those falls come out of being really relaxed. The sort of jello that you become when you get to a state of relaxation."

Elsewhere on the pair's horizons are Matthew Vaughn's spy epic Argylle, in which Rockwell features as a spy named Aiden.

Meanwhile, Nanjiani has been cast in the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

He told OK! Magazine of this dream job: "I think it explores, it makes the world a lot bigger.

"People are going to love it because it's just this great thing where it feels new, and it's going in this direction."
