Kansas redshirt junior forward Jalen Wilson has been named to the 2022-23 Preseason All-Big 12 Team, as voted on by the league coaches, the conference announced Wednesday.

Wilson was a unanimous selection to the all-league squad, while KU teammate Kevin McCullar, a transfer from Texas Tech, is an honorable mention honoree.

Wilson, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound starter off last season’s national championship team, was named all-league along with league preseason player of the year Mike Miles of TCU, plus Baylor’s Adam Flagler, Oklahoma State’s Avery Anderson III and the Texas duo of Timmy Allen and Marcus Carr.

Flagler, Wilson and Miles were unanimous selections. A tie in the voting created an extra position. All six were named to all-Big 12 Teams last season — Flagler, Miles and Allen were second-team picks, while Wilson, Anderson and Carr were on the third team.

Miles is the first TCU basketball player to be selected the Big 12’s preseason player of the year.

Grant Sherfield, who played his 2019-20 season with the Wichita State Shockers and prepped at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, earned Oklahoma’s seventh preseason newcomer of the year nod (and first since 2012-13). Sherfield played for Nevada during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

Keyonte George is the second consecutive Baylor player named preseason freshman of the year..
