Lip oils are all the rage as of late—pretty much every major beauty brand has one. Unlike lip gloss, they’re not sticky and are actually nourishing. Instead of simply coating the lips in gloopy product, oils leave your pout softer than it was before application, all without sacrificing the high-shine smile gloss gals love. That’s why Kristin Chenoweth can’t get enough of R.E.M. Beauty’s Essential Drip Lip Oil.

“[Ariana Grande] has all these wonderful products that I’ve tried, but my favorite is the R.E.M. Beauty Lip Oil,” the Broadway star recently told The Strategist. “I love the packaging; it’s really nice on the eyes.” The silver-capped bullet is perfectly stored in any purse, and the applicator is super unique, featuring a cooling metal tip on one side and a soft, flocked edge on the other.

“I also like that it has a lip wand, so you don’t have to put your fingers in there,” Chenoweth added. “I’m a little bit OCD with COVID; I wash my hands every five minutes, but putting your hand in a lip oil, that’s not a good idea.”

Packaging aside—it’s what’s inside the bottle that Chenoweth is really all about. “I have dry lips, as you can tell, and it puts moisture back in my lips. And it’s glossy, so it looks good over your own lipstick,” she explained.

As an oil, the product is inherently moisturizing, and each of the four shades contains its own unique blend of botanical ingredients that give it color, scent, and in the case of the shade “Mint Condition,” a cooling menthol sensation.

Reviewers are just as in love as Chenoweth. “I can’t stop using this and telling everyone I know about it. It smells so good and feels even better,” one Ulta shopper wrote. “It goes on so smoothly and it looks SO shiny!” another added. “I love how juicy this makes my lips!!” someone else wrote.

Whether you need a go-to lipstick topper or a little something to throw on bare lips before running out the door, you can’t really go wrong with a lip oil like Grande’s. As for Chenoweth, she’s a fan of all kinds of oils—including those for her skin.
