Kris Bryant is heading to the San Francisco Giants, ending an outstanding seven-year run with the Chicago Cubs.

While the third baseman/outfielder will get a chance for new beginnings with the NL-leading Giants, he’s certainly leaving behind plenty of fond memories with the team that drafted him No. 2 overall back in 2013.

Recent video released by Marquee Sports Network shows the moment Bryant was officially informed of the trade.

After hanging up the phone in the Cubs dugout ahead of the team’s game against the Washington Nationals, the four-time All Star couldn’t help but let the tears fall.

In exchange for Kris Bryant, the Cubs will receive pitcher Caleb Killian and outfielder Alexander Camargo, per USA Today‘s Bob Nightengale.

Through seven seasons, one Rookie of the Year award, one National League MVP award, four All-Star appearances and one World Series championship with the Cubs, Bryant became a fan-favorite at Wrigley Field. The veteran superstar will finish his career in Chicago with 833 games played, recording 865 hits, 160 home runs and 465 RBIs.

From his third base position, Bryant famously fielded the final out in the 2016 World Series — breaking the 108-year championship curse in Chicago.

Just as Bryant meant so much to the Cubs organization, it clearly meant just as much to him.
