Sony's Spider-Man villain movie Kraven the Hunter has been delayed yet again, with studio Sony almost pushing it back into 2025.

Having previously been set to come out in January 2023, then October 2023, and, most recently, August 2024, the film now has a release date of December 13, 2024.

The film has been pushed back into the date previously held by the studio's new The Karate Kid movie. The Karate Kid reboot brings together a new lead character, Jackie Chan's mentor from the previous reboot with Jaden Smith, and Ralph Macchio from the original films.

The reason for The Karate Kid delay is because of Cobra Kai's sixth and final season's lengthy production delay, which is due to the strikes in Hollywood last year. With Daniel Larusso a part of the film, it looks like it will follow on from the TV series.

The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news, claims that the studio believes the new May 30, 2025 release date serves the all-ages target market better.

Meanwhile, Kraven the Hunter is now up against Warner Bros' animated Lord of the Rings spin-off War of the Rohirrim, which opens on the exact same day.

The latest of Sony's Spider-Man-adjacent villain films, Madame Web, opened to an overwhelmingly negative reception and low ticket sales.

Lead actor Dakota Johnson admitted that she wasn't surprised by the reception, stating: "Decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it's made by committee...

"My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they're not. Audiences will always be able to sniff out bullshit."

Kraven the Hunter will be released in cinemas on December 13.
