From Korean BBQ in Mount Laurel to tequila at the shore, four restaurants to check out
Craig Vogt’s latest South Jersey restaurant has fit right into the dining scene in Mount Laurel.
Vogt, a Mount Laurel native, couldn’t be happier with the reception that Dolsan Korean BBQ and Sushi has received.
Located at 3747 Church Road in the Princeton Place shopping center, Dolsan is the second in the brand. The other is Dolsat House Korean BBQ Restaurant in Cherry Hill, just miles away from the new restaurant.
“Business is picking up now that word is spreading,” said Vogt, a Lenape High School, who added that the positive reviews have helped, too. “We have 11 tableside barbeque hoods where our servers cook your Korean barbeque meats, and those are sold out on Friday, Saturday and Sunday dinner.”
Reservations are recommended for groups larger than four people.
He says their most popular items are Dolsan kalbi (prime), marinated kalbi, prime ribeye, wagyu chuck flap and wagyu skirt steak.
Customers can choose a grill table or a regular table if they're just getting sushi. The atmosphere is modern and sleek.
“We have brought in a seasoned experienced Korean chef from Manhattan with over 20 plus years of experience in fine dining, Korean and Japanese,” Vogt added. “Our sushi chef also has 25 plus years of experience. We serve Uni and bluefin tuna. Some of the best in the world. Almost 80% of our clients get the barbecue combos which come with a nice variety of meats and food.
“We will expand our Dolsan/Dolsot brand to other parts of New Jersey. We are currently looking at Philly suburbs and Central Jersey.”
Haldi Fine Indian Cuisine, Mount Laurel
The Village at Cambridge Crossing shopping center in Mount Laurel just got a new addition.
A fine dining Indian restaurant has opened at a popular shopping center in Mount Laurel.
Haldi Fine Indian Cuisine had its grand opening on April 19 in a shopping center which also includes Bhan Thai, Pancheros Mexican Grill, La Scala’s Pronto, Ruby Tuesday, LA Fitness, and more.
Haldi says its menu “showcases diverse regional flavors and time-honored cooking techniques” as well as a “delightful fusion of spices, aromas, and textures.”
The Village at Cambridge Crossing is located along Route 38 with proximity to Rowan College at Burlington County and many other businesses.
The restaurant is located at 4180 Dearborn Circle.
Radin’s Delicatessen, Cherry Hill
Owner Russ Cowan is a fourth-generation restaurateur who previously owned Famous 4th Street Deli in Philadelphia and The Kibbitz Room in Cherry Hill.
Radin’s Delicatessen is located in the Short Hills shopping center at 486 Evesham Road in a space previously occupied by Short Hills Restaurant and Delicatessen, which closed three years ago. The Radin’s name comes from delis previously owned by Cowan’s family years ago in Brooklyn, New York.
Corned beef (they pickle their own) is a specialty as well as pastrami, which they smoke themselves. They also do their own baking.
Hot corned beef, hot roast beef, hot pastrami, fresh roasted turkey, beef salami, smoked ham, are among the overstuffed delicatessen sandwiches offered. Reubens, hot dogs and knish, burgers and cheesesteaks, matzo ball soup, potato pancakes, salads are also on the menu. Ungashtupt sandwiches sport the names of locations in New York, such as the “Franklin Avenue” (corned beef, pastrami, Swiss), “Far Rockaway” (brisket, turkey, Swiss and lettuce) and many more.
Cakes and other desserts are also available at this traditional Jewish deli.
Mexiquila, Somers Point
Its website intro offers “Mexican inspired. Tequila infused.”
Mexiquila, which had its grand opening in February, is closed Wednesday and Sunday and is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday noon to 10 p.m.
The menu has quite a bit to choose from.
Appetizers include chilled pineapple, birria spring roll, nachos, street fries poutine, baked clams, ceviche blanco, steamed mussels or clams and more.
Taco offerings include: grilled squid, jerk chicken, grilled wild mushroom, fish, stewed short rib, pork tenderloin, steak and more. Main dishes include: steak, short rib, jerk chicken kabob, seasonal fish, grilled shrimp. There are also salads, Mexican street bowls, burgers, fried and grilled chicken and other choices.
There are bananas churro, flan, tres leches doughnuts, ice cream, and queso filled empanada (flaky pastry, cheesecake, fresh berries and cinnamon) for dessert.
