Kobe Bryant’s youngest daughter embraces photo of father in viral video

Fifteen-month-old Capri Bryant recognized “Dada” in the video clip making rounds online

Nearly eight months to the day since Kobe Bryant‘s passing, his widow, Vanessa Bryant, posted a video on Instagram of their youngest child walking with a picture of her father.

Fifteen-month-old Capri, strolling around the house dressed in pink pajamas, carried and admired a black-and-white framed photo of a young Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles lakers practice gear. When asked by her mother who was in the picture, the toddler replied, “Dada. Dada.”

Capri is the youngest of four daughters by Vanessa and Kobe, who is affectionately remembered as “girl dad.”

The video clip made rounds across social media as fans poured out messages of love.

“That is your dada,” Vanessa replied. “And he loves you.”

In the video, she referred to her daughter as Koko. The late Bryant said during an appearance on ABC’s “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” that Capri’s nickname derives from her middle name: Kobe.

The video, which went viral on social media, is a bright spot in what’s been a rocky month for Vanessa Bryant. Aside from still mourning the death of her husband and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna in a California helicopter crash in January, she’s had to deal with mistreatment allegations from her mother, Sofia Laine.

In a conversation broadcast on Univision‘s entertainment news show “El Gorda y La Flaca,” Laine accused her daughter of kicking her out the house and taking her car. Laine had reportedly moved into the Bryants’ home to help her cope with the loss of Kobe and Gianna.

Vanessa Bryant issued a statement refuting her mother’s claims, saying that Laine purposely emptied her apartment, removed her jewelry and put her belongings in storage to promote the appearance of her being deprived by Vanessa.

“My husband and daughter passed away unexpectedly and yet my mom has the audacity to do an interview on TV talking negatively about me while shedding tears about a car and home that wasn’t in her name,” Bryant said.

In addition to the controversy with her mother, Bryant filed suit earlier this month against the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department over unauthorized photos taken at the site of the helicopter crash where nine people, including Kobe and Giana, perished earlier this year.
