Mount Horeb school district officials confirmed Wednesday there was an active shooter at its middle school. The individual "did not breach entryway", the district reported on its Facebook page shortly after 11:30 a.m. Here's what to know about Mount Horeb, Wisconsin:

Where is Mount Horeb, Wisconsin?

Located in Dane County, Mount Horeb is a village about 40 minutes outside of the state's capital, Madison, Wisconsin. Population estimates for the village are approximately 7,700 people, according to Census data.

What to know about Mount Horeb School District:

Mount Horeb School District serves about 2,500 students across five schools: the Early Learning Center, the Primary Center, the Intermediate Center, the Middle School and High School. Mount Horeb's Middle School is located at 900 East Garfield Street.

Where is the reunification site?

Some students were taken to an alternative safe site, the Mount Horeb Public Library. Those students will be transported to the reunification center at the bus garage, at 421 W. Garfield Street, the district reported around 12:45 p.m. Other students and staff remain at the middle school and the school district said on Facebook that dismissal remains on hold.

Where should Intermediate Center parents report?

Intermediate Center parents should report to either Life Church or Good News Lutheran Church, including families who assembled at the bus garage, according to the district.
