The Women's World Cup is finally here!

The U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) begins its campaign this evening to defend its title and take home their fifth World Cup win (they've won previously in 1991, 1999, 2015, and 2015). The tournament takes place in Australia and New Zealand and runs until August 20, when the finals will take place. To watch, all 64 games will be broadcast in the U.S. on Fox and Fox Sports (in English) and on Telemundo and Universo (in Spanish).

Last month, an all-star line-up of celebrities and athletes announced the 2023 USWNT World Cup squad, including President Joe Biden, Taylor Swift, Gabrielle Union, Lil Wayne, and more. In alphabetical order, meet the 23 Americans who are playing for the U.S. in the 2023 Women's World Cup:

Alana Cook

Age: 26

Hometown: Far Hills, New Jersey

Club team: OL Reign

Position: Defender

Fun fact: She went viral for a video USWNT posted of the team arriving in New Zealand, in which she is pictured wheeling just a carry on while her whole team pushes very full luggage carts.

Savannah DeMelo

Age: 25

Hometown: Bellflower, California

Club team: Racing Louisville

Position: Midfielder

Fun fact: She got her first cap (appearance) with the USWNT in the send-off match to the World Cup. She's just the third player to make a U.S. World Cup roster without previously earning a cap.
