The battle for the last seeds have been clinched, and the 2024 NBA Playoffs matchups are set. The New York Knicks will face the Philadelphia 76ers in an Eastern Conference first-round series.

The New York Knicks secured the 2 seed in the playoffs, beating the Milwaukee Bucks with a 50-32 regular-season record. This marks the Knicks' third playoff appearance in the past 11 seasons. New York aims to avoid a repeat of its last playoff run, which ended with a Game 6 loss to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The Philadelphia 76ers secured a 7 seed in the playoffs by defeating the Miami Heat 105-104 in the Play-In Tournament. All eyes will be on Joel Embiid — who played exceptionally well in the tournament with 23 points and 15 rebounds, despite missing 43 regular-season games this year due to a knee injury — to lead the 76ers in the playoffs.

East First Round: Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks predictions

NBA.com: Knicks in seven

Steve Aschburner writes: "The casual analysis of New York is that, like every Tom Thibodeau-coached team before this one, it plays harder during the regular season than many opponents. That edge fades when those rivals dial up to playoff intensity and Thibs’ groups seem to lack an extra gear. But with Anunoby to put out fires – they were 20-3 when he played – and Brunson as the little engine that does, the Knicks should be glad they outworked their way to the high seed. Home-court advantage at MSG could make the difference in a series ripe to go the max."

New York Post: Knicks advance

Erich Richter writes: "The Knicks had Julius Randle for that game, who shot just 1-of-11, along with OG Anunoby. Randle will not be active for this series but in comes Mitchell Robinson, who did not play in that January contest and is another body to throw at Embiid. For now, we’ll take the gift of even odds on New York and run with it."

Yahoo Sports: Knicks in seven

Dan Devine writes: "A healthy Embiid is a terrifying matchup coming out of the play-in; on paper, the Sixers have two of the three best players in the series, plus a championship coach. But the Knicks have the physicality and depth to go toe-to-toe with Philly, Thibodeau proved in last year’s playoffs (and this season, after losing Randle) that he can be an adaptable and creative game-planner against tough competition, and the Knicks have been a buzzsaw with Brunson and Anunoby on the floor. New York survives a slugfest to return to Round 2."
