Kissick Avenue bridge over Lake Springfield to close for gas main repairs

The Kissick Avenue bridge over Lake Springfield will be closed the week of Monday, June 3, according to a City Utilities press release. Traffic will be diverted as City Utilities makes repairs to a natural gas main running along the bridge, with work expected to take a full week.

The city advises drivers to make alternative travel plans and avoid Kissick Avenue near the Lake Springfield Dam Bridge during the week of June 3. Detours will be in place for drivers going both north and south on Kissick Avenue. Southbound drivers will be diverted at Lake Ridge Avenue. Northbound drivers will be diverted near the James River Power Station.

Although the work is scheduled to take place the week of June 3, inclement weather could delay the project. The Tailwaters Access below the dam and fishing areas along the east side of Kissick Avenue will remain accessible.
