Kirk Hogen of Vermillion and Terry Rotert of Huron are other members of 2024 induction class

SISSETON — Former Sisseton High School coach Jim Pearson is one of three people set to be inducted into the South Dakota High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Vermillion's Kirk Hogen and Huron's Terry Rotert are also set to be inducted in 2024.

Pearson coached Sisseton girls golf team from 2003-2019 and the boys from 2005-2019. During his tenure, he guided Sisseton's boys to state Class A runner-up finishes in 2010 and 2018 and the girls to a state Class A runner-up finish in 2019. The Redmen also had two third-place and two fourth-place finishes in both boys and girls. Ryan Medhaug won state Class A boys individual championships in 2010 and 2011.

In addition, his Sisseton teams won 35 tournaments, including 11 Northeast Conference titles.

Hogen has served as Vermillion's boys and girls coach since 1979 ( a total of 92 seasons combined) and is the state's all-time career record holder with 3,308 victories.

He guided the Tanager boys to state Class A titles in 2007, 2022 and 2023 and girls to state Class A titles in 2002, 2003 and 2010., along with four state runner-up finishes for boys and three for girls.

Rotert coached Huron's boys from 1991-2008 and girls from 1992-98 and 2002-2008, leading niumerous individual Eastern South Dakota Conference champions and all-state golfers.

Huron's girls finished second in the state Class AA tourney in 2002. He also led Huron teams to three conference titles, two third-place finishes and a fourth-place finish at state.
