Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow drew a lot of eyeballs against the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday when he locked horns with all-world pass rusher T.J. Watt to make a block. He’s getting props from across the sports world, including ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit.

Taking to Twitter this morning, Herbstreit praised Burrow for “fighting for his team” by locking up with Watt. He said that Burrow’s play will speak volumes in the Bengals locker room. Herbstreit added that he wasn’t surprised it was Burrow who made a move like that either.

“HUGE in the locker room when team reviews game film and sees your franchise QB fighting for his team. Can’t overstate how big this goes over in a locker room. Not surprised by Joe doing it either,” Herbstreit wrote.

That block may have been the most memorable play from yesterday’s Bengals-Steelers game, but it wasn’t the only one. Burrow went 20 of 24 for 190 yards and a touchdown in a 41-10 win.

Joe Burrow has improved by leaps and bounds in his second NFL season. The former No. 1 overall pick already has a higher completion rate and nearly double the touchdown percentage rate from his rookie year.

Burrow is completing 69.3-percent of his passes for 2,835 yards and 22 touchdowns with a 101.6 passer rating.

In a season where the AFC North title race might go all the way down to the wire, that level of play could get the Bengals over the hump and into the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
