Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has an interesting idea to better protect himself from COVID-19 this season.

Cousins missed several practices this past week after he was deemed a high-risk close contact after teammate Kellen Mond tested positive. The simple solution to ensure he doesn’t miss practice or potentially games is to get vaccinated. Cousins isn’t going to take such a route, though.

The Vikings quarterback revealed on Thursday he’s “at peace” with his decision to avoid vaccination. He’ll instead continue to be “vigilant” in regards to the NFL’s protocols surrounding COVID-19. Cousins may end up taking matters into his own hands, as well.

Cousins said on Thursday he’s considered bringing plexiglass to quarterback and team meetings. In doing so, he’d be able to surround himself with it to avoid contracting COVID-19.

“Cousins said he has thought about surrounding himself with plexiglass in the QB room,” wrote ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, via Twitter. “He was asked why he would go to such lengths when a vaccine would be far more effective and efficient. He said the decision is personal and private.”

This is all unnecessary. Kirk Cousins could move past all this by simply getting vaccinated. It doesn’t look like that’s the path he’s going to take.

Cousins isn’t alone in the NFL. Several others have come out in opposition of the vaccine, instead electing to follow the NFL’s strict protocols for unvaccinated players.

Cousins risks missing practices and games in coming months by not getting vaccinated. We’re sure the Vikings aren’t too happy about it.
