Kings vs. Knicks: Anunoby, Randle, Huerter, Lyles injury news, updates, scouting reports

John Jones/USA TODAY Sports

Key players from both teams will be out of the lineup and others could be ruled out due to injuries when the Kings play the New York Knicks on Saturday at Golden 1 Center.

Knicks star Julius Randle is out with a dislocated right shoulder, Mitchell Robinson is out after undergoing left ankle surgery and OG Anunoby is questionable due to right elbow injury management.

The Kings are listing guard Kevin Huerter as questionable due to a right leg contusion. Trey Lyles is out with a left knee sprain and Sasha Vezenkov is still sidelined by a right ankle sprain.

The Kings (38-27) are coming off back-to-back wins after beating the Milwaukee Bucks 129-94 on Tuesday and the Los Angeles Lakers 120-107 on Wednesday. Sacramento moved into sole possession of sixth in the Western Conference playoff race when the Phoenix Suns lost to the Boston Celtics on Thursday. The Kings are percentage points ahead of the Suns, one game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks, three games ahead of the Lakers and four games ahead of the Golden State Warriors.

The Knicks (39-27) are fourth in the Eastern Conference, three games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 3 seed. The Knicks are a half-game ahead of the Orlando Magic and 2 ½ games ahead of the Indiana Pacers. They are coming off back-to-back wins over the Philadelphia 76ers and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Kings announced Friday that Lyles will be reevaluated in two weeks after imaging exams revealed a sprained MCL. Lyles and Huerter both missed Wednesday’s win over the Lakers after being injured in Tuesday’s win over the Bucks.

Randle could be nearing a return for the Knicks, but he has not played since dislocating his shoulder in a Jan. 27 game against the Miami Heat. The Knicks are 10-10 in the 20 games he has missed.

Earlier this week, Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said Randle is ramping up in “controlled contact situations,” but he had not progressed to 5-on-5 scrimmages. Thibodeau said there was no timetable for Randle to be cleared for full contact, but Randle was expected to travel with the team on the current four-game road trip.

This is the first of two meetings between the Kings and Knicks this season. They will face each other again April 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Scouting Sacramento

The Kings have won four of their last five games to move 11 games over .500 for the first time this season. They completed a season sweep of the Lakers on Wednesday at Golden 1 Center.

De’Aaron Fox is ninth in the NBA in scoring. Now in his seventh season out of Kentucky, he is averaging 27.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.9 steals while shooting 47.4% from the field and 36.4% from 3-point range.

Domantas Sabonis averages 20.1 points, 13.6 rebounds and 8.4 assists. He is No. 1 in the NBA in rebounding and fifth in assists. He also leads the league in double-doubles (61) and triple-doubles (23). Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Russell Westbrook, Nikola Jokic and Sabonis are the only players in NBA history to record 23 triple-doubles in a single season.

Malik Monk, the leading candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award, averages 15.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists. Keegan Murray is averaging 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals.

Harrison Barnes is averaging 12.3 points while shooting 48.9% from the field and 40.6% from 3-point range. Barnes scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter in Wednesday’s victory over the Lakers.

Keon Ellis started the past two games — once in place of Murray and once in place of Huerter — and played key roles in wins over the Bucks and Lakers. The Kings are 6-0 with Ellis in the starting lineup.

Scouting New York

Jalen Brunson scored 45 points in Thursday’s 105-93 victory over the Blazers. Brunson is averaging 26.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists while shooting 47.6% from the field and 40.5% from 3-point range on 6.6 attempts per game.

The Knicks will be missing a lot of firepower if Randle and Anunoby are both out. Randle is averaging 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Anunoby has averaged 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 in rebounds in 15 games since being acquired in a trade with the Toronto Raptors.

Donte DiVincenzo is averaging 14.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals for the Knicks. Josh Hart averages 9.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists. Precious Achiuwa, who was also acquired in the Toronto trade, is averaging 8.8 points and 7.7 rebounds. Center Isaiah Hartenstein averages 6.9 points and 8.3 rebounds.
