It's hard to believe, but The King of Queens celebrated its 25th anniversary this month. The show starring Kevin James, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller as a blue collar family in New York made its debut on CBS in September 1998, and devoted fans still call it their comfort show today.

Kevin James, who starred as delivery driver Doug Heffernan, took to Instagram to commemorate the milestone with a throwback photo of his costars. He shared his love for Leah and Jerry, who passed away in 2020, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude with his fans.

"25 years ago today, we aired. I am so incredibly blessed to have taken this ride with the insanely talented @leahremini and Jerry Stiller. I love you both so much… and thank you to the GREATEST FANS in the world 🌎 LOVE YOU! 🙏❤️"

Fans left their own thankful messages. One wrote, "We play this show every night to fall asleep to. Have seen it a zillion times over. I wholeheartedly believe it had the best cast chemistry of all time. Thank you for blessing us with this show ❤️✨" Another said, "One of my comfort shows! No TV show like it. 🫶🏾"

Even more fans commented what we're all thinking: We need a reboot! They left messages like, "It‘s time for a revival! Doug, Carrie, and the kids… 😃," "REBOOT!!!" and "This needs to come back. 👏💯" Kevin and Leah reunited on screen for the short-lived sitcom Kevin Can Wait, but they portrayed different characters.

Kevin's costar and on-screen wife Leah (who played Carrie) shared her own messages with fans on Instagram. She wrote, in part, "As soon as production started on season one, I knew I was home, and I am blessed to say I was part of a truly special show that went on for nine seasons and 207 episodes and still lives on successfully in syndication."

Her statement continues, "I want to let you all know that I see the comments where you say that you fall asleep every night to The King of Queens, that it got you through a rough day and tough times in your lives, that you laughed for the first time in your day watching us, or that you watch several episodes a day, or that you and your family bond over watching the episodes in syndication...It means the world to me, and I’m so grateful for this experience that lives on and on."

If you haven't watched the sitcom or are ready for a re-watch, all nine seasons are available to stream on Peacock.
