Kim Kardashian Had to Ask an ‘SNL’ Producer to Give Her Pete Davidson’s Number
In the latest episode of The Kardashians, we finally got the Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson romance origin story we’ve all been waiting for. We know the couple connected last fall when Kim hosted Saturday Night Live and that they caused a collective jaw drop when they were photographed holding hands on a group date at Knott’s Scary Farm, but until now, we mere mortals were not privy to the meet-cute moment when they decided to explore their spark.
And yes, that spark is the one we all got to witness during their onscreen kiss in their Jasmine and Aladdin sketch:
“Okay, you guys have stalked me long enough. I’ll finally answer you,” Kim explained to the crew of her reality show during a confessional segment. “So this is how it went down with Pete. I did SNL, and then when we kissed in scene, it was just a vibe. And I was like, Oh shit, maybe I just need to try something different.”
Kim followed that instinct and went out of her way to go for it—even though Pete apparently played it very aloof after their vibe of a kiss, prompting her to enlist the help of a producer from his show to get his number.
“Everyone was at my after-party,” she said. “[Pete] does not give me the time of day. So a few days later, I called the producer at SNL and I was like, ‘Hey, do you have Pete’s number?’ and they were like, ‘Yeah!’”
Even though she knew her vibe with Pete was something she needed to explore, Kim insists she had no idea they would actually end up being a serious thing.
“I wasn’t even thinking, like, Oh my god, I’m going to be in a relationship with him,” she explained. “I was just thinking, like, Heard about this BDE. Need to get out there. I was just basically DTF.”
