Kim Kardashian Debuts True-Crime Podcast with Chilling Story
Kim Kardashian is continuing her fight for criminal justice reform with her latest unexpected project.
Yesterday, the SKKN founder debuted her new Spotify-exclusive true-crime podcast, Kim Kardashian’s The System—two years after she signed the deal with Spotify.
The first season focuses on the chilling story of Kevin Keith, an Ohio man who was initially sentenced to death for allegedly committing a triple murder in 1994, and later, in 2010, given life without parol by former Gov. Ted Strickland.
In the show, Kardashian—who has previously said that there was no physical evidence connecting Keith to the crimes—talks about Keith's attempts over the years to prove his innocence. He is currently imprisoned at Marion Correctional Institution in Ohio.
"I’m really hopeful for this podcast, just to get your story out there, because I think it’s so important for people to understand that… our system is so fucked up," Kardashian says in a conversation with Keith on the podcast.
The podcast is narrated by Kardashian and Lori Rothschild Ansaldi, a producer and fellow criminal-justice reform advocate.
The first two episodes are now available to stream.
Kardashian has been studying law for some time now, and focusing her efforts on prison reform. In recent years, she has worked to get various unfairly- or wrongly-convicted individuals out of prison, including Alice Marie Johnson, a 64-year-old woman who was given a life sentence for a nonviolent drug charge and spent nearly two decades in prison until Kardashian came along.
In an interview with Vogue Hong Kong earlier this year, Kardashian said she hopes to open her own practice one day to keep helping others. "I’m very passionate about criminal justice reform and I want to advocate for those who I feel they were wrongfully convicted. I dream of one day creating a successful law firm," she said.
