Kieran Culkin Tells Wife ‘I Want More’ Kids in Emotional Emmys Victory Speech
“Succession” star Kieran Culkin won the Emmy on Monday night for outstanding actor in a drama series. The win was Culkin’s first Emmy for playing the younger Roman Roy on the hit HBO series, which ended its run last May after four seasons.
The actor used the moment to thank his costars, the show’s creators, his mother, his manager — and shoot his shot for more kids with his wife, Jazz Charton.

“And of course my beautiful wife, Jazz,” Culkin said at the end of his acceptance speech. “Thank you for sharing your life with me and giving me two amazing kids, Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf. I love you so many and so much. And Jazz, I want more.”
That line got big cheers, laughter and “oohs” from the audience. Culkin added, before walking off the stage: “You said! You said ‘maybe,’ if I win! I love you so much.”
Culkin last week also won a Golden Globe for the role, and was previously Emmy nominated in the supporting actor category in 2020 and 2022. He’s also still in contention this year for a SAG Award in the outstanding male actor in a drama series category.
Culkin won a category in which he faced off with “Succession” co-stars Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox, as well as Jeff Bridges (“The Old Man”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”). Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”), who won the drama actor Emmy last time, was not eligible to repeat.
Anthony Anderson hosts and Jesse Collins Entertainment is producing the 75th Emmys telecast, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay as executive producers. The ceremony, taking place on Jan. 15 — Martin Luther King Jr. Day — was originally scheduled for September 18 until the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes led to the postponement.
This year’s nominations were announced on July 12, less than 48 hours before the SAG-AFTRA strike began, effectively halting all production and promotion in the entertainment industry.
HBO’s “Succession” leads this year’s Emmy nominations, with 27 — including best drama, lead actress (Sarah Snook) and a record three lead actor noms (Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong). “The Last of Us” — the first video game adaptation to receive major Emmy attention — followed with 24 noms, then Season 2 of “The White Lotus” (now a drama series, last year a limited series) with 23.
Apple TV+’s “Ted Lasso” scored 21 noms, making it the year’s biggest comedy. Netflix’s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” with 13 nods, was the year’s most recognized limited/anthology series. Roku’s “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” was tops in TV movie, with eight. And “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” with seven, was the top unscripted series.
The 75th Emmy recognizes shows that aired between June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023. At the Creative Arts Emmys, which took place on Jan. 6 and 7, HBO’s “The Last of Us” dominated with eight wins while FX’s “Welcome to Wrexham” took home five awards. “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie,” “The Bear,” “Wednesday” and “The White Lotus” all earned four each.
