Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick

Beloved Hollywood couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick made a major announcement on Tuesday, Jan. 30, revealing that they will be starring together in a new film for the first time in two decades.

Bacon and Sedgwick will co-star in Connescence, written and directed by Michael J. Weithorn. The project also stars Brittany O’Grady and Judd Hirsch. The story follows Bacon's character, a lackadaisical security guard who stops a robbery at the home of Sedgwick's character, leading a unique friendship to develop between the two.

The couple shared the news on Instagram, writing, "Once in 2004 and again 20 years later. Maybe we’ll join forces again in 2044…🤷🏼‍♀️. So excited for this moving, yet touching script to come to life! And an absolute honor to work with this stellar cast."

Bacon and Sedgwick previously starred together in 2004's The Woodsman, while they also both appeared in 2005's Loverboy, which Bacon directed, and Cavedweller. More recently, Sedgwick directed the movie Space Oddity in 2022, in which Bacon acted.

"We are so excited to work together on screen again for the first time in 20 years in such a funny, moving and original script," the two said in a statement to Deadline.

Fans were just as excited, saying so in the comments on social media, with responses like, "OH MY GOD! I’m already excited to watch this!!!🙌," and, "The collab we need!"

"They couldn’t have chosen a better couple!🔥🔥🔥," wrote a third.

Both award-winning actors, Bacon and Sedgwick have been separately busy working on other projects lately, with the latter appearing in the hit TV series The Summer I Turned Pretty. Meanwhile, Bacon starred in the Netflix thriller Leave the World Behind, which also featured Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

The Hollywood couple first met in 1987 while making the film Lemon Sky, tying the knot in 1988, and they share two children: Sosie and Travis Bacon.
