Kentucky baseball vs Florida prediction in 2024 College World Series: Who wins CWS game?

OMAHA, Neb. — Kentucky baseball is playing to keep its season alive Tuesday. Florida will do the same — for the second straight day.

UK lost to Texas A&M, 5-1, on Monday. Earlier in the day, Florida notched a 5-4 win over N.C. State in an elimination game. Now, the Wildcats and Gators will have a win-or-go-home contest Tuesday night. The victor advances to take on Texas A&M Wednesday night.

After winning its first six outings since the NCAA Tournament started, Kentucky now is only one loss away from a historic campaign concluding.

In the Gators, the Wildcats face an SEC rival they've already played three times in 2024.

In that road series May 10 through 12, UK won two of the three games in Gainesville, Florida. Kentucky earned an extra-innings win in Game 1, besting the hosts, 12-11, in 10 innings. The Gators rebounded to notch a 10-1 victory in Game 2. UK won Game 3 — and in turn, the series — in another extra-inning affair, escaping with a 7-5 triumph in 10 innings.

2024 College World Series prediction: Kentucky baseball vs Florida

Kentucky 9, Florida 8: The Gators can mash the ball with the best in the country, tallying 133 homers this season, the fourth-best figure in Division I. And they'll also have the best player on the field: all-world performer and offensive wunderkind Jac Caglianone, who set Florida's single-season mark for homers (34) with a second-inning blast Monday. But as adept as the Gators are scoring runs, they're almost as likely to help their opponents do the same. As a staff, Florida has the SEC's worst earned run average (6.16) and issues more walks per game (4.74) than any team in the league. Top to bottom, Kentucky is the better team. It won't be easy: Florida is 7-1 in elimination games the past two seasons. But this year's batch of Wildcats have found ways to win in nearly every fashion imaginable. They'll outlast Caglianone and the Gators in a slugfest to set up a rematch with the Aggies.
