The Kent State women's basketball team gave coach Todd Starkey his 300th career win with an 82-74 victory over Bowling Green in a Mid-American Conference game Saturday in Bowling Green.

Starkey has won 135 games as Golden Flashes coach, tying him with Laurel Wartluft for the second most in program history.

Senior Katie Shumate led the Flashes with a season-best 26 points, despite only playing 20 minutes because of early foul trouble. She was particularly effective in the second half, when she connected on 7 of 8 shots and scored 23 points.

Junior Jenna Batsch added 16 points and Janae Tyler had 14 off the bench for Kent State (13-5, 7-1), which has won its last three games and has its best MAC record through eight games since the 2000-2001 season.

The Flashes bench outscored the Falcons bench 23-0.

Morgan Sharps scored a game-high 30 points for Bowling Green (10-8, 4-4), which trailed 53-50 entering the fourth quarter and drew within 67-65 with 3:45 to play before Shumate made six consecutive free throws in the final 25 seconds to secure Kent State's victory.
