Kensington Palace Releases Surprise Statement After Kate Middleton Undergoes Unannounced Abdominal Surgery

Breaking news: Kate Middleton is recovering from a planned, but previously unannounced abdominal surgery and will remain in the hospital for the next few weeks.

Earlier this morning, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a full statement on their shared Instagram account. The Kensington Palace statement reads as follows: “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to hospital yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

It continued, “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

To close out the letter, Kensington Palace revealed that they will share further updates on the royal mom of three when new info arises. The statement continued, “The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

In light of this recent news, royal journalist Emily Nash logged onto Instagram and shed some light on the situation at hand. She reposted the official statement on her personal IG account and shared in the caption, “I understand that her condition does not relate to cancer but understandably further details will remain private.”

And according to the Hello! Magazine editor, both the Prince and Princess of Wales will be absent from royal engagements for quite some time. She wrote in the caption, “Kate [Middleton] is likely to be out of action until Easter and [Prince] William will postpone engagements while she is in hospital and in the period after she is discharged.”
