Kenny Chesney slides into headliner spot for Carolina Country Music Fest in June

Carolina Country Music Fest announced a new headliner hours after singer Morgan Wallen dropped out of his June 10 performance due to medical reasons.

Kenny Chesney will take Wallen’s spot on June 10 as the headliner.

CCMF announced the replacement on social media Tuesday evening.

“‘We’ll be groovin’ when the sun goes down’ (and okay let’s not lie, for FOUR days, all day, every day),” the post says. “Please welcome Kenny Chesney back to the Coors Light Main Stage! We are thankful for Kenny and his team for bringing ‘The Good Stuff.’ See ya on the beach!”

In a video on the country singer’s Instagram account, Wallen said he re-injured his vocal chords, resulting in vocal fold trauma. Doctors advised him to go on vocal rest for six weeks, until approximately June 20, which Wallen said will also help him recover from a torn lat muscle.

The singer said he’s in the process of rescheduling tour dates but will miss a number of festivals in 2023, including CCMF.

CCMF will be held from June 8 to 11.
