Kelly Ripa Reveals the Reason She Started Posting More ‘Thirst Traps’

Kelly Ripa revealed the visceral reaction she had to Madonna following her on Instagram.
She said she changed her posting strategy to share more thirst traps for the singer.
“She wants to see eye candy,” she said.
It’s no secret that when Kelly Ripa posts a thirst trap (of herself or her husband Mark Consuelos), the internet notices. 👀 And when the Live With Kelly and Ryan host got a follow from none other than Madonna, she instantly felt pressured to give the people what they want.
“That happened to me when Madonna followed me and Isaac Boots told me,” Ripa recently explained on the Everything Iconic podcast. “He’s like, ‘Oh my god. Madonna followed you and I was like, ‘What? What? What?!’ and I immediately sort of changed everything I posted,” she told host Danny Pellegrino. “I started posting only shirtless photos of Mark because I was like, ‘Madonna doesn’t want to see my kids. She wants to see eye candy.’”
She admitted the swift change may’ve been a little “dark-sided,” but she couldn’t help it. “My thought bubbles of Madonna following me and me feeding her something was like, forget anybody else,” she added. “I was playing to an audience of one for a while.”
But let’s be honest, Ripa has never been shy about sharing spicy shots of her husband. Most recently, on their August family vacation, she shared a snap of the Riverdale star, 51, sunbathing shirtless with a straw hat on his... lap.
“Adequate sun protection? 🌞☀️🕶” she captioned the post. In another poolside video from the same trip, they both basked in the rays wearing their swimsuits.
Consuelos is also unabashed in his public affection for Ripa. In October, he dedicated a birthday post to the star, sharing a gallery of photos and writing: “Happy Birthday Sexy!!! What a year of accomplishments. So proud of you.❤️❤️❤️.”
So really, Madonna has no shortage of good photos to peruse.
Previously on Live, Ripa opened up about how much she adores the “Like a Virgin” singer when she was set to appear on the show. “There’s no level of Madonna, Madonna could come on my show every day for the next 25 years, I could live in the same house with her, and she will always get that reaction from me because she is simply the greatest showman on earth. She will always be, end of story,” she explained. “I just love her, I think she is so provocative and smart and clever, and a real revolutionary in terms of what she’s done with music and the music industry.”
In fact, it was Ripa’s “eye candy” husband who halted her fangirl reaction during her first Madonna encounter at one of Andy Cohen’s parties. “I vomited Madonna trivia at Madonna to the point where—I believe it was Mark who dragged me away,” she explained.
Needless to say, the Instagram follow was quite the full-circle moment.
