Keanu Reeves has landed another big upcoming movie role.

As reported by Variety, the actor will be part of the ensemble cast for The Entertainment System is Down, the next project from Triangle of Sadness director Ruben Östlund.

Although an official synopsis has been kept under wraps for now, Östlund has reportedly teased beforehand that it will be a social satire set on a plane during a long-haul flight. As the title implies, the entertainment system will stop working, and chaos is set to ensue.

He told the publication last year that the black comedy will be "a study of how human beings interact in this little laboratory that is a plane" and "will look at how modern human beings are wrecked under these circumstances".

Östlund has apparently spent years gathering anecdotes from real-life to put in the film, and he is hoping for a a record number of people to walk out of it when it is screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

Reeves has quite a few film projects on the way, including the Ana de Armas-starring John Wick spin-off Ballerina, which was recently delayed by a whole year.

He's also teaming up with Cameron Diaz for a new film that's co-starring and directed by Jonah Hill, and just a few days ago he was announced as edgy anti-hero Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

And that's not all he's got on his plate, as June will see the release of Reeves' first novel The Book of Elsewhere, which is set in the world of the BRZRKR comic series that Reeves co-created.

"It was extraordinary to have the opportunity to collaborate on The Book of Elsewhere with one of my favourite authors, China Miéville," said Reeves in a statement.

"China did exactly what I was hoping for — he came in with a clear architecture for the story and how he wanted to play with the world of BRZRKR, a world that I love so much. I was thrilled with his vision and feel honoured to be a part of this collaborative process."
