KC Current and league announce schedule for 2023 NWSL season. It starts next month

The Kansas City Current, along with the rest of the National Women’s Soccer League, finally released their 2023 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. Things get interesting right away.

The Current will open their season on the road on March 25, with incoming international star Debina potentially debuting against her former team, the North Carolina Courage.

The following week the Current play in Kansas City for the first time, with an early rematch of last year’s NWSL Championship game against the Portland Thorns on April 1.

The following week, new Current signings Morgan Gautrat and Vanessa DiBernardo will face off against their old team, the Chicago Red Stars.

The key difference between the 2023 schedule and previous years is that the NWSL Challenge Cup will run concurrently with the NWSL Regular Season. The league will pause its regular-season calendar from July 7 to August 26 but will play three scheduled Challenge Cup matches during that international window for the 2023 Women’s FIFA World Cup.
