On the first day of legalized sports wagering in Kansas, a pair of sports betting companies have new partnerships with a team ... in Missouri.

BetMGM said Thursday it had entered into a multi-year deal with the Chiefs “to become one of the team’s first sports betting partners.”

Chiefs fans may notice a few changes associated with this deal.

BetMGM, which calls itself a sports betting and gaming entertainment company, said in a news release its signage would be placed inside Arrowhead Stadium. The sportsbook’s content also will be “featured” on the Chiefs’ digital channels, meaning YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc., with “special offers, game day experiences and prizes available to fans and season ticket members.”

There were no specifics on where at Arrowhead Stadium the signage would be located.

Chiefs president Mark Donovan said Thursday in a news conference the team also has a partnership deal with DraftKings.

“We’re strong believers in the benefits of legalized sports betting for our fans and also the financial impact it can have on the states that legalize it,” Donovan told reporters. “We’re really excited that Kansas has officially legalized sports betting and the government, politicians, the folks in charge, have accelerated the timeline to be able to launch today.

“With that we’re excited also to announce that we have formed partnerships with BetMGM and DraftKings to be official partners with our organization and create really unique ways for Chiefs Kingdom to activate and for our fans in the State of Kansas to enhance their experience in being a fan of this great team.”

BetMGM said with its launch in Kansas, it will operate in 24 markets with mobile/retail options.
