Earlier this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams shocked the football world when they traded away quarterback Jared Goff.

Los Angeles shipped Goff and multiple draft picks to the Detroit Lions for quarterback Matthew Stafford. In the months following the trade, the Rams have become one of the favorites to win the NFC – according to oddsmakers.

NFL Network host Kay Adams made it clear that the expectation for the Rams is to make the Super Bowl. She says anything less, following the trade for Stafford, is unacceptable.

“He has to go to the Super Bowl,” Adams said. “Let me explain plain and simple. The trade for Matthew Stafford was a simple message to me from the Rams that said, ‘Jared Goff was holding us back.’ If this team does not go to the Super Bowl, they will be heavily criticized.”

It’s difficult to argue with her comments. Goff was able to lead the Rams to a Super Bowl, where they fell to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Stafford was brought in to not only make it to the Super Bowl, but actually win one. It won’t be easy, though, as the Rams play in the crowded NFC West with other legitimate contenders all around.

The team also just lost star running back Cam Akers for a full season. Even more pressure will be on Stafford to lead the team to the promised land.
