Katie Holmes and Bobby Wooten III Reportedly Split
Katie Holmes and composer Bobby Wooten III have reportedly split. The two were first spotted together in April 2022, and made their red carpet debut in May 2022, but by December 2022, Us Weekly reported they had broken up. Here's everything you need to know about Bobby Wooten III.
He's an accomplished musician.
Wooten was born in New Jersey and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and growing up, he performed in his family's gospel choir, the Wooten Choral Ensemble. "My grandfather started the Wooten Choral Ensemble in 1949," he shared in 2021. "I was born in New Jersey, and we lived there at a time when my dad was doing pop music and studio work, and playing keyboards in Marcus Miller's band."
He taught himself to play the bass, telling Bass Magazine, "I fully taught myself, learning whatever songs I wanted. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder and then a lot of Motown. So then I played keys and bass in the church every week. I never took a bass lesson until I got to college, which was more about learning upright bass."
In his career, he's worked with Carly Rae Jepsen, Jennifer Lopez, Mac Miller, Jennifer Hudson, Rick Ross, among other musicians. On a recent Instagram of a performance with Jepsen, Kate Holmes commented a series of red hearts. On another post, she wrote, "AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!"
For the 2022 to 2023 school year, he will be teaching at the NYU Clive Davis Institute as a Visiting Assistant Arts professor.
He was part of the original Broadway cast of David Byrne's American Utopia.
David Byrne's American Utopia features Byrne and 11 musicians performing songs from Byrne's oeuvre. "It will always feel special to me that I performed in a Broadway show not as a character, but as myself," Wooten said.
On Instagram, Wooten is open about the impact Byrne has had on him as a musician and a person. Recently, he wrote, "david has impacted my life in countless ways and i’m forever grateful for the journey."
He was first spotted with Katie Holmes in April 2022.
Holmes and Wooten were reportedly introduced by mutual friends. In April 2022, the new couple was pictured kissing in Central Park, and visiting the Guggenheim Museum, and they quickly made their red carpet debut at the Moth Ball's 25th Anniversary Gala in May 2022.
"I’m happy to have [Katie] here as my date," Wooten told Us Weekly on the carpet." I’m so excited to be here for [honoree] David [Byrne]. He’s impacted my life like crazy so it’s quite easy to speak on everything he’s done for me."
In June 2022, Wooten accompanied Holmes to the premiere of her film, Alone Together, where they held hands as they walked the red carpet.
At the end of June, the two attended the Montauk wedding of Wooten's close friend, and throughout the summer, Wooten and Holmes were spotted on a dates around New York City, including on the Upper West Side and in Washington Square Park. They have most frequently been photographed together on dinner dates, and recently they grabbed takeout while Holmes wore a large knit sweater.
In September, Wooten and Holmes sat front row at the Chloé Spring/Summer show at Paris Fashion Week.
By December, however, the two had reportedly split.
