Katie Couric Announces Thrilling Family Update With Sweet New Photos

Katie Couric is a grandma!
The renowned journalist has welcomed her first grandchild to the world, introducing him to her followers via Instagram over the weekend.
Her eldest daughter, Ellie, and her husband, Mark Dobrosky, welcomed their firstborn, John Albert Dobrosky, on his due date this past Saturday, March 23, at 8:23 in the morning—just a few months after revealing the pregnancy with a sweet, Taylor Swift-themed announcement.
The Today alum shared that he'd be called Jay, in honor of her late husband, Jay Monahan, who passed away in 1998 as a result of colorectal cancer, while Albert is in honor of the babe's paternal great-grandfather. It's worth noting that Couric's second husband is John Molner, but it's unclear if the new addition was named for him, as well.
"Mom and Dad (Ellie and Mark) are over the moon 🌕 (it was a full moon) I am thrilled to have my first grandchild, [Couric's second daughter] Carrie can’t wait to be a cool Aunt and Molner is enjoying handing out cigars," she continued, before promising "more tomorrow" in her morning newsletter.
Alongside the thrilling announcement, Couric posted several photos from the hospital, including of the proud new parents smiling brightly as Allie cradled the baby on her chest and a newborn portrait of the babe swaddled tightly.
She also shared photos of herself holding Jay tightly as he yawned, leading her to sweetly mimic the face as she looked down at him in awe, Carrie cradling him carefully in her "Cool Aunt" shirt, and her husband smiling cheekily with a cigar in hand as evidence.
According to a follow-up comment, Jay will call Couric "Gogo," a moniker she had embroidered on the sweater she wore to meet him.
