"I think about the people who have reached out to me and said, 'Have a speedy recovery!' " she said. "That's about as speedy as you get!"

Kathie Lee Gifford is on the mend after a fall down the stairs in her Tennessee home left her with a fractured pelvis in two places — and she credits it all to the "hundreds of thousands of people" who have been praying for her.

The broadcasting legend, 70, called into the Today show on Tuesday, Aug. 13, where she gave an update on her health.

On July 30, PEOPLE exclusively reported that Gifford had been hospitalized for a week due to the tumble. At the time, she was recovering from a painful hip replacement surgery, but slipped down the stairs of her four-story brownstone as she was running to help a friend who was locked outside in the 100-degree heat.

"I just went too fast in stupid shoes and I went tumbling," she told Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones on Today.

But nearly two weeks after she returned home, Gifford noticed her pain was gone — something that surprised her since she had cracked her pelvis both in the front and the back.

"I was out in my little farm here, I was walking around [with] a walker," Gifford explained. "But I realized that I wasn't in any pain. ... I was in no pain at all. And I was off painkillers, I was off all that stuff!"

Calling her doctor, Gifford was told to come in for another X-ray on Aug. 8. When she was shown the results moments later, even her doctor was surprised.

"He comes in with my X-ray and goes, 'Look at this Kathie. You want to see your X-ray?' And I go, 'That’s my X-ray?’ He goes, ‘Yeah. You're completely healed. You are cured,' " Gifford recalled.

"And he's an incredible man of God, yes, but he doesn't see that very often!" she continued. "He said, 'You are healed. It is a miracle. Now you can have one glass of wine if you'd like.' "

She went on to thank the support she's received from fans, many of whom have been reaching out to her.

"You have to give credit and glory; credit to all the prayers," Gifford said. "I sob when I think about the people who have reached out to me and said, 'Have a speedy recovery!' That's about as speedy as you get!"

"If people are out there, looking for hope, waiting for your miracles, keep hoping, guys," she said. "God hears your prayers. He knows what you're going through. I'm just, I'm deeply grateful and I'm still praying for all the friends and the loved ones in my life who have not received their healing yet."

And though she's feeling better, there's one more thing she needs the public's help with.

"I fell off the bestseller list when I fell down the stairs, so I've got to get back up," Gifford said on the NBC morning show, holding up her newest book, Herod and Mary: The True Story of the Tyrant King and the Mother of the Risen Savior.

According to an official description, the historical nonfiction book gives “deep insight to how Herod came to power, how corruption and an ancient evil threatened the stability of a nation, and how a teenage Mary was called to traverse these obstacles to bring the Savior, Jesus, our living hope, into the world."

Gifford previously told PEOPLE the idea for the book came to her while on a rabbinical trip in Israel a few years ago and her son Cody, 34, “convinced” her that “these are stories that need to be told because people need hope.”
