Kate Middleton Makes First Appearance Of 2024 At Trooping The Colour

After nearly six months out of the public eye, Kate Middleton is back in the spotlight.
The Princess of Wales joined the royal family at Trooping the Colour today.
She rode in the Glass Coach in the parade alongside her three children.

The Princess of Wales joined the royal family at Trooping the Colour today, riding in the Glass Coach in the parade alongside her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Kate is also expected to join the royals on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
For the occasion, Kate wore a black and white Jenny Packham dress with a bow, a Phillip Treacy hat, and accessorized with pearl cluster earrings and the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch. She was also spotted carrying what appears to be a Mulberry clutch.
Her appearance, announced yesterday, came as somewhat of a surprise after months of no updates on Kate's health from Kensington Palace. In addition to the announcement of her attendance at King Charles's birthday parade, the Princess released a personal message, sharing, "I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."
In March, Kate announced she had cancer in a moving video, sharing "it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok. As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits."
When her diagnosis was first announced, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said, "The Princess will return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team. She is in good spirits and is focused on making a full recovery." Today's Trooping the Colour is not an indication that the Princess is back at work.
This year's Trooping the Colour is especially notable for Kate, as the Irish Guards hold a signifiant role in today's ceremonial parade. Kate became Colonel of the regiment in 2022, and missed their rehearsal last weekend. In a letter to the Irish Guards, the Princess wrote, "I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon."
