Kate McKinnon Channels Home Alone 2, Makes Wish to Host SNL: ‘I Miss Wearing Giuliani Teeth’ — WATCH
Kate McKinnon makes like Kevin McCallister in a first promo for her imminent return to NBC’s Saturday Night Live, for her very first stint as host.
McKinnon, whose celebrated 11-year stint on SNL ended in 2022, will lord over Studio 8H this Saturday, Dec. 16, alongside musical guest Billie Eilish (who is making her third visit to SNL).

The SNL pairing marks a Barbie reunion of sorts, seeing as McKinnon famously played Weird Barbie in the mega-blockbuster film, while Eilish contributed “What Was I Made For?” to the soundtrack.
In the promo above, McKinnon — a two-time Emmy winner during her time on SNL — apes a scene from Home Alone 2, by stopping at the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree to make a heartfelt wish.
Yet whereas Macaulay Culkin’s lost-in-New York Kevin wished to see his mother again, if only to tell he was sorry for things he had said before they got separated (watch that Home Alone 2 scene below), McKinnon’s wish is to host Saturday Night Live, in part because she misses “wearing [Rudy] Giuliani teeth” when playing the former mayor of New York.
Now if you take this very literally, you may be asking: But Matt, how does Kate not know that she already has been asked to host SNL? Well, Kenan Thompson has the very same question, as he arrives to usher his tardy former co-star to rehearsal. Press play above to see why McKinnon missed out on that big news.
NBC’s Saturday Night Live closes out its fall run this Saturday with McKinnon as host and musical guest Eilish; a 2024 return date has not been set.
