Fashion enthusiasts, gird your loins: a new six-part dramatic series about the late fashion iconic Karl Lagerfeld is heading to Hulu in June.

Becoming Karl Lagerfeldwill chronicle 38-year-old Lagerfeld's rise in the Paris fashion scene in 1972 when designer Yves Saint Laurent was reigning supreme. Lagerfeld found himself in competition with Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé after falling in love with Jacques de Bascher, a young dandy who was also romantically involved with Saint Laurent. One may expect all the trappings of the fashion world's most infamous periods: rivalry, egos, partying, love affairs, and tragedy.

With his signature white hair, black sunglasses, and gloves, Lagerfeld had a colossal impact on high fashion, from his appointment as the creative director of the French fashion house Chanel in 1983 to his death in 2019. Not only was he a champion of beautifully designed and constructed clothing, but also an usher of the fantastical worlds that ultimately brought them to life. No show of Lagerfeld's Chanel lacked a theatrical element that often left attendees in a dazed state of mind, shocked and impressed by the runway shows that were set before them. Aside from Chanel, he was also the creative director of Fendi, as well as having his own namesake label.

Daniel Brühl will star as Karl Lagerfeld.

Théodore Pellerin will play Jacques De Bascher.

The series is based on Raphaëlle Bacqué's biography.

Isaure Pisani-Ferry wrote the script for the series with the help of Raphaëlle Bacqué author of Kaiser Karl: The Life of Karl Lagerfeld, which the series is based on. The biography explores Lagerfeld's early life, including his father's past in wartime Germany, his rivalry with Yves Saint Laurent, and his stellar career.

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld will premiere on June 7.

There will be six episodes in the miniseries. The first full-length trailer dropped in April, previewing Lagerfeld's first step onto the fashion scene, when he meets de Bascher, and when his rivalry with Yves Saint Laurent begins.
