Kansas woman accused of uploading child pornography onto Snapchat, coercing minor

A Lyon County woman was indicted by a grand jury in Wichita in connection with the sexual exploitation of child, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office for Kansas.

Brandi Snyder, 34, of Americus, was charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography, according to news release.

Snyder is accused of “persuading and coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction,” the release said.

Snyder had uploaded “files of child pornography onto to Snapchat’s servers,” according to an affidavit filed in court. Snapchat then reported the username “Beautifulcat87” to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Snapchat later identified Snyder as the owner of the username uploading the files after a search warrant through Sedgwick County District Court for the Snapchat account revealed a phone number and email associated with Snyder.

The search warrant was filed by a special agent with the department of Homeland Security investigating the case.
